New penalties for ||failure to register with A.I.R.E.

As of 2024, the Budget Law of 30 December 2023 has introduced important changes regarding  A.I.R.E. (Anagrafe degli Italiani Residenti all'Estero) registration.

It is important to note that registration with the A.I.R.E. is an obligation dating back to 1954 for all Italian citizens residing in Belgium or in a foreign state for more than 1 year.

What changes with the new rules?

The law provides for sanctions in the event of failure to register with AIRE. Registration can be done via the Fast IT portal, and the maximum penalty is set at €1000 for each year of non-registration, with a maximum limit of 5 years.

It is essential to remember that registration is also compulsory for minors, and parents are responsible for the procedure if this is neglected.
